PAULINA LAKE TRAIL

If you're looking for a relatively easy and pleasant 7.5 mile loop trail with gorgeous views all around, Paulina Lake is the place to head. Here, Paulina Peak stands guard on the south side of the lake.

The forest rangers are serious with their posted sign on how best to avoid bears.

Wildflowers add color to the blue shades of water and sky.

Be sure to pack a lunch and plan to stop halfway to enjoy a picnic overlooking the lake.

For the most part, the trail stays within sight of the lake.

Bees busy themselves in the wildflowers that decorate the water's edge.

The trail leaves lakeside at one point to travel up over an obsidian flow ...

... where there are great views across the lake in all directions.

We were intrigued by the gorgeous aqua colors in certain places along the lake's edge.
